The department seeks to nurture students of good character and responsible leaders through two key programmes — Character Building and Student Leadership. Through purposeful experiences both in and beyond the classroom, students are developed holistically to become exemplary Leaders of Character who are ready to serve and contribute to the community.

Character Building
The Character Building programme aims to instil the school's core values of Respect, Integrity, Care, and Excellence (RICE) in every student through a 6-year roll-out plan. This is carried out through three approaches:
a) Explicit Teaching involves teachers guiding students through case studies and scenarios during Assembly periods, helping them apply the school's values to real-life situations.
b) Incidental Infusion sees teachers weaving desired character values naturally into their day-to-day teaching.
c) Infusion into Subjects has subject teachers incorporating character values into their lessons in alignment with the Scheme of Work.
Student Leadership
The Henry Park Primary School Leadership Framework is aligned to the School's Vision of mentoring and guiding students towards becoming exemplary Leaders of Character, serving with their unique talents. Rooted in the belief that leadership is a skill that can be developed through knowledge and practice, the framework draws from the Leadership Challenge Model (Kouzes and Posner), adapting its 5 Practices of Exemplary Leadership — model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and encourage the heart — to suit the school's context and needs.
Throughout their leadership journey, students are consistently reminded of the importance of the school's values and social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies across all areas of development, including training, significant leadership experiences, assessment, mentoring, and the application of skills in assigned roles.
a) Student Leadership Framework - 3E Tiered Approach
The framework follows a 3E tiered approach of Educate, Enable, and Empower — equipping students with the right knowledge, skills, and values; providing them with the means and platforms to serve; and empowering them with the autonomy and opportunities to contribute back to the school and society.
b) Student Leadership Opportunities
The Tiering System allows students to progress in leadership according to their level of competence and degree of responsibility, with each tier carrying its own selection criteria and expectations. All student leaders undergo a common training programme to ensure alignment, with Tier 2 and above receiving additional specialised training to develop skills specific to their roles.
